Birthday Celebration Sponsors Namaste Direct
On September 30, 2007, a group of Los Angeles ’ executive and professional women met to celebrate a milestone – a 40th Birthday. But what made this celebration different was the request for gifts.
Elizabeth “Beth” Nixon is a Los Angeles tax attorney with a private boutique practice based in Santa Monica . Her focus is trusts and estates planning. Her network of referral sources is a powerful brokerage of women. Beth turns 40 this year but rather than shrinking away from it, she chose to face it head on and celebrate – with a twist. Beth and 20 of her friends gathered for Royal High Tea at the Pasadena Ritz Carlton to celebrate the occasion in easy style.
Champagne, jasmine tea, English finger sandwiches and petite desserts were served. But instead of speeches about the birthday girl, candles to blow out and a table full of presents, Beth invited NamasteDirect to come and share its mission statement and success stories with her friends.
“I have been so fortunate to have accomplished all that I have. I do not come from a family of means and I certainly never envisioned having the kind of success I am enjoying now.” Beth also says that the most powerful influence in her professional life has been the support and encouragement of others who believed in her even before she could believe in herself. “This is why I am passionate about NamasteDirect, they see the potential ready to be birthed from within these impoverished women. Partnering with NamasteDirect was the vehicle through which I could sow back into other women the vision and power that was planted in me.”
One guest commented, “This was the best idea for a Birthday, I would never have imagined it.” A close friend laughed saying, “This is the perfect idea, this is the kind of gift that should be re-gifted and I’m glad to know that it will be as the women we’ve sponsored today continue to give to other women around them!”
In the course of a couple of hours and while enjoying rare teas and delicate foods, these women opened their hearts and their wallets and contributed hundreds of dollars toward the mission and vision of NamasteDirect. At the end of the day, over eleven hundred dollars was raised.
Beth plans on celebrating her “First Annual 40th Birthday” again next year – with a twist. Many of her friends have already decided that instead of High Tea and donations next year, they all want to take a trip to Guatemala and see for themselves the bigger difference yet to be made.
